Annual Birthday Bash March Baby, Beeyatch

So my brother (the greatest chef ever) is going to bring some Irish themed food (think corned beef and cabbage).  Just a little of what’s coming to tempt you.  So tempting!  Be tempted!

Look, it’s an Irish holiday by happenstance and I have Irish on both sides of my family.  Come toast a faux-alcoholic and real Irishman on this holiday rather than toasting a real alcoholic and faux-Irishman!

And we have a Princess.  Top that.

Anyway, there will probably be some sort of cake.  The Princess is still yammering on about the mythical Italian Cream Cake, but we shall see what finds its way to the dessert tray.

What else?

If you want to bring something, let us know.  I have some vodka and some rum.  Mmmm… breakfast of champions.

A friend asked me if ANY corned beef and cabbage was worth eating.  I say it loud:  if there is one worth eating it’s the one my brother makes!

The cabbage was falling off the bone and the corned beef was succulent.  Excellent sauces.  And the CAKE!

Thanks everyone and for everything.  It was a great party for our birthdays.

One Year Seattle Woo Hoo

This is the celebration you’ve been waiting for if you’ve been waiting either for a reason in January to celebrate something or you’ve been thinking “Cecilie’s been living in Seattle for a year now”.

Get out your party shoes and dust off your feather boa.

I’ll post information about food and drink as it becomes available.

Just in case anyone is worrying about snow (and who doesn’t from time to time), I checked the National Weather Service and the snow will return to our wonderful rain by Wednesday and the weekend will be just our usual array of wet.  Except in our house.  In our house it will be warm and dry.

Based on the responses thus far, this is looking like a pretty mellow intimate gathering.  Let me know your thoughts.

Ok, so looks like casual and mellow are the watchwords for Saturday.  I will make some pasta sauces and pasta in case anyone is hungry.  If you’d like to bring something bread, cheese, or wine all sound good.  Call me if you have questions (my phone number is on my Info page).

I have prepared (or am preparing, depending upon your perspective) two meatless pasta sauces for your noshing.  If you don’t do wheat based pasta you may want to bring something to boil.  Semolina!  Anyway, let me know if you have questions; my phone is still on my Info page.

Ok.  The sauces have been transferred into warmers for tonight (and why not let them simmer some more in the mean time?).  Cecilie and I are looking forward to seeing those who can make it after this debilitating weather we’ve been having.  All the roads and alleys are clear around here.

Feet, up!  Let the games begin.

Thanks to all who came, thanks for the interesting beers, and thanks Stanislaw for playing us a couple tunes.

Multi-Birthday Bash

Some parties are just for the Princess; this one is not.  I get a small corner in the yard where I get to have some fun.

Please come join me in my little corner of the yard at some point during your visit to give her Highness her certainly well deserved birthday wishes.

I will accept gifts but she only wants some weird southern pastry thing called an Italian Cream Cake, which by the way is NOT Italian.

The royal schedule is Family Time from six until nine and then Adult Time after nine.  Adults are welcome during Family Time but they must act like children.  Children are welcome during Adult Time but they must remain tethered at all times, preferably to their own goat.

There was intended to be a theme.  Our negotiations fell apart and no one was able to either behead the other theme proposers (There can be only one!) or arise victorious in the negotiations so we permit you to make up your own theme and run with that as far as your little feet can take you.

I will be enjoying my Obscure 70’s Music theme.  Cecilie will be enjoying her But Doctor I’m the Princess theme.

Thank you for reading this far; I appreciate your endurance.  We are looking forward to seeing each of you.

Sangria, cheese, crackers, chips, dip, salsa, fruit, vegetables.  Man, we gots yer nibbles covered.

Multi-Birthday Bash
