Electric Fur

Electric Fur

This unmanipulated photograph (7747) was shot on 8 February 2009.

A new sushi joint here in Ballard for which I will be writing a restaurant review has this great cherry blossom tree sculpture where the cherry blossoms are represented by LED’s.  I used this tree as my subject for this series of luxagraphic shots. (The orange bits are stray incandescent lamps.)

There has been no post-processing work on this image.  This is as shot (just a small contrast adjustment and the addition of the border).

Thanks for taking a look.

This unmanipulated photograph (7996) was shot in Discovery Park on 3 June 2009.

I hand held a filter (Multi-Image) to create a repeated effect then used some standard luxagraphic camera motion to produce this series of images.

There has been no post-processing work on this image.  This is as shot (just a small contrast adjustment and the addition of the border).

Thanks for taking a look.

Lightfalls

This unmanipulated photograph (0630) was shot on 17 January 2006 at a memorial to Martin Luther King, Jr (in San Francisco).

This is a Luxagraphic shot of light coming through a series of thick glass panels which were etched with quotes from Dr King.

I tried flipping this one around and played with some various crops, but finally just gave up and posted the image as captured (though I can make no assurances that the camera was itself in any particular orientation).

This unmanipulated photograph (9924) was shot at the Locks here in Ballard on 1 October 2006.

There has been no post-processing work done (not even a contrast or brightness adjustment).  I played around with levels but finally just went with the out of camera image.  I anticipate that people will complain that it’s too dark.  So it goes.

Caravan of Dreams (In Four Parts)

Magnitudes of Insignificance

This photograph (0872) was shot on the hill over at Gasworks Park near Fremont on 2 June 2007.

Very slight levels and contrast adjustments.  Nothing else done in the digital realm.

La rebelión de las masas

This photograph (1084) was shot on the sidewalk about a block from my house on 8 June 2007.

Take a good look.  You’ll see some ants.  What is difficult to parse is that all that you see is ants.  All of that maroonish brown is ant upon ant.  And they are tiny ants.  Probably the size of the ball within a ball point pen.  Writhing.

Scherzo Scappatellato

This unmanipulated luxagraphic photo (8721) was shot in Discovery Park (where else?) on 8 May 2007.

Running through the trees, as usual.

I Ask You Again…

I Ask You Again…

This unmanipulated luxagraphic photo (3684) was taken from the top floor of the Majestic Bay Theater here in Ballard on 7 January 2007.

The blue and the red regions are from neon-style tubes.  The thin blue lines are from hanging fiber optic lights.  The various yellowish lights are different kinds of incandescent lights from across the street.
