Party and Movie Night

This is the final movie night party.  Good films, good people, and good times.

Go toward the (orange porch) light!

I’ve done these for three years now, but lately the turn-out has been less than optimal.  It’s a lot of work to put these on and so I’ve decided to reduce or eliminate these nights all together.  In short, if you’ve been thinking you’d like to come this is likely your best and final opportunity.

Thoughts, comments, questions?

(If I missed anyone on the guest list let me know and I’ll work to correct that.)

So, folks are asking about the movies.  I guess “It’s a secret” doesn’t go over well enough.  How about “It’s a secret but here are some hints”?

Two comedies (funny as hell).
There are British people involved…
… and perhaps, I say perhaps, some either dead or undead types.
Also, there is a high probability for glimpses of hot chicks.
And maybe a midget.
No ninjas (though you are permitted to wear your ninja outfit).

You like that?

I will be making sangria, as usual.

Ok, it’s been pointed out to me that ratings may be important to some.

Both films are rated R for one reason or another, but I will remind you that my parents took both my little brother and I to see Porky’s at ages 12 and 9 when that film came out and we have turned out just fine.

Well, mostly.

Look, piss off.

The weather is likely to be chilly at night so bring a blanket or a sweater or something to keep you warm (hookers are fine but you HAVE to keep them leashed at all times).

I am making my famous Sangria but you may want to bring your favorite beverage as you will likely disapprove of my collection (OE800 mixed with Red Bull?  Really?).

I will provide some random snacks, but I love it when people bring nibbles to share.

(My Hookah is for tobacco only but if you need a pipe let me know.)

More questions?  You know where to find me.

I’m going off-line for the rest of the day for Movie Night.  Call me if you run into any troubles (you can find my number on my profile/info page).

Party and Movie Night

Excellent night.  Good turnout.  Thanks to all for coming.

For those who did not, you missed some early (30’s) Popeye cartoons, Death at a Funeral (the original), and Lesbian Vampire Killers.

Season Finale Death at a Funeral and Lesbian Vampire Killers

  • Popeye cartoons (from the 30’s)
  • Death at a Funeral (the original
    British version)
  • Lesbian Vampire Killers

Well, it’s been a summer, hasn’t it?

An old friend of mine, Cecilie, will be in town on Friday 20 August
and so I will do my last movie night on that evening.  All the usual
stuff applies.  Ask me questions if you have any.

This will be the last night of this summer, and for future seasons I
will limit my movie nights to special occasions.

20 August.  That’s a Friday which is a little unusual.  Hope that’s ok
with y’all.

Likely the last scheduled movie night for me.

Let me know your thoughts.

I’ve done these for three years now  (four if you include the first
night), but lately the turn-out has been less than optimal. It’s a lot
of work to put these on and so I’ve decided to reduce or eliminate
these nights all together. In short, if you’ve been thinking you’d
like to come this is likely your best and final opportunity.

Hello, kiddies.

First of all, folks are asking about the movies. I guess “It’s a

are some hints”?

Two comedies (funny as hell).

There are British people involved…

at ages 12 and 9 when that film came out and we have turned out just
fine.  Well, mostly.  Look, piss off.

Any other questions and you just send them my way.

I’m getting asked about what to bring, so I’ll go over the usual bits
especially for the new-comers.  You can see the definitive list here:

http://groups.google.com/group/movieknight/web/whatcha-packin

You will want to sit on something.  Could be a blanket.  Could be a
camping chair.  You are in control.  I have a couple of extras, but
don’t make me bring out The Comfy Chair!

The weather is likely to be chilly at night so bring a blanket or a
sweater or something to keep you warm (hookers are fine but you HAVE
to keep them leashed at all times).

I am making my famous Sangria but you may want to bring your favorite
beverage as you will likely disapprove of my collection (OE800 mixed

I will provide some random snacks, but I love it when people bring
nibbles to share.

(My Hookah is for tobacco only but if you need a pipe let me know.)

More questions?  You know where to find me.

Shit, sorry.  And you can show up at 7pm and the films will start once
it gets dark enough.  Don’t be afraid to be the first one here because
I always need help hanging the stupidhuge screen.

Thanks for the support.  It was a great night for a movie and a good
crowd.

For those that missed the shows and would like to recreate the event
in their private dream worlds, the night consisted of some early
Popeye cartoons (from the 30’s), Death at a Funeral (the original
British version), and Lesbian Vampire Killers.

Movie Night

Another backyard movie extravaganza.

The Incredibles
Blade Runner

I own three or four different versions of BR and am open to discussing which version is the right version.

Things to bring for those who are absent minded:

Something to sit upon (camping chairs and blankets are popular).
Something to snack upon (I have an air popper for those interested; also I have a grill and an open fire).
Something to snuggle (a blanket or a naked girl, as you prefer—bringing your host the latter gets you extra points).

Movie Night

(I think we only showed The Incredibles.)

The Incredibles Movie Night

  • [unknown cartoons]
  • The Incredibles
  • [no second film]

I have selected two movies for our next gathering:

  • The Incredibles
  • Blade Runner

I own three or four different versions of BR and am open to discussing
which version is the right version.

I haven’t selected cartoons yet.

I have many bottles of my beer under refrigeration and ready to
drink.  You can tell me what you think of it.  I drank some last night
and it tastes nothing like Black Butte (nor does it look like Black
Butte), but it is pleasant and drinkable.

I am open to ideas about food for the night.  I have no specific plans
at this point.  Haven’t really had time to look at anything.  Does
anyone what to take charge of this?

Send all your questions my way.

Indoor Movie Night

  • [unknown movies]

Howdy, cow-kids!

I know you’ve been thinking about seeing the next movie in my
backyard.  I have been working on a system involving heated car seats,
woolen blankets, and umbrellas with the hope of having these nights
all year round.  Still in the planning stages, mind you.

Short of that, we’ll be kicking off the next season when the weather
warms again (May or June) and it will be a great season.

As a reminder to the old-timers and by way of introduction to the
novices, we have a thread for discussing your most loved and love to
hate movies:

http://groups.google.com/group/movieknight/web/a-funny-thing-happened-on-the-way-to-the-theater

PS:  I will probably have a March birthday bash (not likely involving
a movie) for those interested in such matters.

https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/movieknight/vPKx6qqwUTA

Friends; terrestrials; humans,

Lend me your anamorphic lenses.  I just wrote an article where I
review 10 zombie and horror films:

http://www.soundunreason.com/InkWell/?p=1633

Weather is a fickle mistress.

I regret to admit that the too cool nights may disarm our jubilee,
pictures in motion of which we are so fond.

Spring!  Always reminds me of the William Tell Overture.

I should like to gauge the interest in crowding into my small theater
to watch something short or simply gather round the homestead and rub
some elbows?

Whether outdoors or in, I have some terrific stuff picked out for this
summer.  Of course elbows always appreciate at least a little rubbing.

Read my review and let me know your thoughts about the possible
gatherings.  Either way we will shoot for a date late in May to give
the sun a chance to make up for depriving us.

Brought to you by James: http://JamesIsIn.com in conjuction with http://SoundUnReason.com

I know that’s a lot to think about, but if there is really no interest
in having an event in May then the next movie night will be in July.

Anybody?

Looks like the weather might just come ’round for us.  Either way we
will have some festivities on 28 May.  Note: this is a Friday.

This is only a couple of days before I leave for France, so come say
good-bye even if you can’t stay for the flick.

I am not clear if my beer will be ready for consumption by the 28th,
but I did brew an alleged Black Butte clone.  It’s fermenting as I
write this and will likely go into bottles pretty soon.

Also, I’m pretty broke with the whole no-job-taking-a-trip-to-France
thing so I will assumedly provide something less than my usual
retarded levels of way too many snacks and yum yums.

Any questions?  Send them my way.

Until then, stay out of trouble…

Howdy kids,

Yep, my beer won’t be ready.  We are bottling it in the morning.
We’ll drink it in July instead.

I have made two different soups for those who come hungry.  Snacks are
a welcome addition.  Something to go with soup?  Bread?

I have a half case of Fat Tire and a growler of porter from Port
Townsend.  Feel free to bring your favorite beverage.

If you have any questions let me know.  Otherwise I am looking to
seeing y’all tomorrow.

Since I keep getting asked…

The movie/party tonight is INDOORS.

Season Finale Movie Night

Another movie in my backyard.

I have not decided on movies, but I intend to make the first film family accessible (no, it will not be “The Little Mermaid”) and the second movie less so.  (For example the last films were “Across the Universe” and “Dr Strangelove”.

I will be making some smokey barbecue beef and some special sauces.  My grill and will be available as will my fire burning, taracotta tandoori-like chimenea for cooking as well.  You are welcome to, and encouraged to, bring your favorite barbecue dish.  Let me know if you have any special needs or kitchen requirements so that I can accommodate best.

Also, I’ll make my usual sangria.  Bring your favorite beverage as you like.

As a general bit of information, the bbq will begin around 6 (as per above).  The first film will begin near sunset (preceded by some cartoons)—which is near 8.

Those staying for the film(s) should bring something to sit on and something by which to keep warm (camping chairs, sleeping bags, blankets, sweaters, &c).

Did I miss someone on the invitation?  Let me know.

The weather is looking really positive (72 during the day).  Was touch and go for a bit there.  Sorry to you folks who are out of town or otherwise can’t make it.  Call me; we’ll watch a movie in my theater some winter evening.

Let me know if there are any questions.

I will be making some barbecued beef and a couple of different, yummy sauces.  My gas grill will be available; as will my wood-fired chimenea; I also have a couple of hot dog roasting sticks.  If you would like to bring something but are uncertain about whatever, give me a call or send me a message.

So many reasons not to come… busy friends of mine.

However, the weather is one great reason to come.  They have upped the high all the way to 81 for Friday.  I’ll be here all afternoon getting things ready, so feel free to drop in early if you have food-stuffs that require a little more time to get ready.  Just give me a call and let me know.

Looking forward to seeing those who are able to make it.

I have made two bbq sauces.  Both very different and both very delicious.  It’s been a productive day.

Ok, five and a half hours of smoking half a brisket is enough to exhaust me.  Just in case anyone was seeking out ways to exhaust me.  On the plus side, it’s gonna be yummy tomorrow.

Season Finale Movie Night

Thanks everyone.  It was a grand success.  If anyone would like to keep informed of other movie nights, you’ll want to join my google group—so please contact me directly.

Season Finale & BBQ Madness

  • [unknown movies]

Knights, untie!

http://groups.google.com/group/movieknight

Well, my hearty campers, we have a lot going on these days.  I trust
you are all still among the living after our wonderful heat wave.  I
know there are a lot of dead flying insects hereabouts.

Ah, but what about the goings-on?  I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this
(enough) but my brother is getting married.  After eleven years of
living in sin he has conceded to our devout mother and is going to get
right with the almighty flying spaghetti monster–or something like
that.  I think we ought to have a little celebratory bbq before the
sun goes down and our films begin.  Any takers?

I have ordered the replacement bulb even though I haven’t quite raised
enough in the bulb fund.  The largest ‘contribution’ came from my
neighbor who has been renting my driveway to park his boat (the funds
from which I have been placing directly into the bulb fund).  Anyway,
it’s on its way, so if the bulb pops we ought to be able to handle
matters.

Movies?

As you may recall I give my brother first movie choice.  Let’s try to
rally around our list and dig out a gem for the other film:

http://groups.google.com/group/movieknight/web/a-funny-thing-happened-on-the-way-to-the-theater

PS: Poor Peter has been working so much that he can barely keep his
eyes open most of the time, let alone through a classic like Dr.
Strangelove.  As such we may wish to honor him with an actiony film to
help his nodding head.

The weather continues to look poor, and I have confirmations from
several people that they will not be able to attend this weekend.
Barring any serious protests, I am going to postpone this movie night
until early September (presumably the 5th).  That would be the final
episode of the season, so I would want to do a nice E.o.S. bbq–or
something like that.  We did that whole taco thing last year and that
went over pretty well.

Anyone who would like to come drink with me and listen to music in my
living room is welcome to do so.

Any questions, give me a call…

https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/movieknight/bxf1GS0srB8

I am thinking real barbecue.  Sticky, sweet, and hot.

We can do this either this weekend (29 August), next (5 September or 6
September because Monday is a holiday), or the one after (12
September).

Talk to me, oh honerable knights of this whole movie thing.

Let the polling begin!

Seriously?  No one has any input on this?

Just me and the crickets…

Ok, mostly I’ve been getting responses (directly) that explain why
folks can’t chime in.  So I’ll just pick a date, Friday 11 September,
and only change that if I get an avalanche of negativity.  You can
snowball here, and I’ll make the proper announcement through a new
post in the next few days.

Ok, that’s one bell for Friday 4 September.  Anyone else want to make
a vote?

This is a tough time of year because everyone has the camping bug, but
11 September (Friday) will have to do for our purposes.

I will be making some smokey barbecue beef and some special sauces.
My grill and will be available as will my fire burning, taracotta
tandoori-like chimenea for cooking as well.  You are welcome to, and
encouraged to, bring your favorite barbecue dish.  Let me know if you
have any special needs or kitchen requirements so that I can
accommodate best.

I have not decided on movies, but I intend to make the first film
family friendly (no, it will not be The Little Mermaid) and the second
movie less so.

Also, I’ll make my usual sangria.  Bring your favorite beverage as you
like.

Thanks for all your support this summer.  It has been a great season.

Good thing we didn’t plan for this weekend: the weather is going to be
horrible.  Keep your fingers crossed for next weekend.

The weather is forecasted to continue improving and ought to be mostly
sunny (71) on Friday.  Perhaps the dogs are smiling on us.  Good bbq
and good movies.

I obtained a copy of Iron Man so that is a possibility.  I have some
other interesting options as well, like The Big Fish.  Anyway, should
be an excellent time.

Does anyone have plans to bring something barbecue like?  I’m going to
work on smoking some beef and I want to make a couple of different
sauces.

Oh, and the weather report is now predicting a high of 81 for Friday.
Looks like I picked the right day.

I’ll be here all afternoon getting shit ready, so feel free to drop in
early if you have things to get prepared food-wise.  Just give me a
ring.

Movie Night

  • [unknown films]

Don’t be frightened.  All is not yet lost.  But if it’s any
consolation, your enemies are doomed too.

On the bright side, it’s time to talk about our next movie night.  I
have a couple of newish films that none o’ y’all has likely seen:

Also, I would really like to try a nice foreign film (as in foreign
language):

I can hear it now: “I didn’t come to the movies to read!”  Pfff…
Run, Lola, Run only has about 20 lines of dialog so it’s a low impact
subtitle scenario.  Baby steps.  Have another sangria.

Again, I have no specific food plans.  We could do a potluck/bbq
beforehand if that appeals to everyone.

Let me know your thoughts.

Howdy, Campers…

Well, it’s been rather quiet around here with my brother running
around in Mexico.  (On the bright side he did manage to find a girl
willing to marry him.)  However, you may rest assured we are all G-O
for the next movie night.  I just checked the weather report from the
National Weather Service and the weather is going to be excellent.

There has been more interest in having some food before the film–and
I rather like doing that myself.  I will be providing Donation Dogs in
order to help augment the cost of replacing my projector bulb.  Don’t
feel obligated, but it’s a nice way to help out if you are able.

As always, my grill is gassed up and ready for anyone who wants to
burn something.

Also, having been inspired at least in part by the Secret Film
Festival I have decided to keep rather mum about which films I will be
showing come Saturday (and we are only five days away).  Nonetheless,
I guarantee great enjoyment all around.

Let me know if there are any questions (besides “What’s playing?”).
Come early for a pre-first-reel snack (say 6pm) and get your plot
plotted.  Or come for the films (sunset will be around 9pm).

The sangria is ready, stewing in its own juices.

I also smoked some ribs last night for those who arrive early (they
likely won’t last).

Plenty of dogs and buns.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all this evening.

https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/movieknight/qjq7AYEglzo

A splendid time was guaranteed for all, and I think we made the grade.

The films, the ribs, and the sangria were all hits.

Thanks to everyone who helped out by donating into the fund.  We are
getting close to bulb territory and I will likely order the new bulb
this week.

The next night should come on 15 August and will, as usual, be at
least in part a celebration of the birth of the greatest brother on
Earth (played by Danzel Washington).  Watch for the announcement
coming within a couple of weeks.

Thanks again

Movie Night

  • [uknown cartoons]
  • Boondock Saints
  • Operation Condor

Gratings, Canadiens.

Barring any objections, we shall hold the next movie night on 13 June.

I have no food plans as yet, so this can be an item of discussion.

Speaking of discussions, I have noticed a peculiar lack of chatter.  I
am going to make a couple of film recommendations, and I expect to see
you opinionated, self-rightious bastards (whom I love so well) chiming
in with your usual pithy quips and swiftian suggestions.

  1. Judge Dredd  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113492/
  2. Eagle vs. Shark  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494222/

Any questions about that?

Remember, it’s easiest to reply to these messages directly on the
group site:

http://groups.google.com/group/movieknight/post

I’m always available for questions, except when I’m not.  And if you
didn’t receive this e-mail be certain to reply to it and let me know.

Ok, I’m a dumbass.

You’ll want to use this URL for the group:

http://groups.google.com/group/movieknight

What can I say?  I’m a writer not an editor…

I don’t own Operation Condor but I do have several other Chan flicks.

We could do, say, Boondock Saints followed by a Chan movie.

No one seems much interested in food, so how about we just plan on
bringing movie time snacks?  (I have kernals and an air popper if
someone wants to be in charge of that operation.)

I’ll make some of my famous sangria if there are no objections.

Ok, y’all ‘re bug-eyed crazy.

Darien, bring your Operation Condor or suffer the rath of the crowd.

Tom, don’t know about a pizza making contest.  Sounds complicated, but
maybe we can work out the logistics later.  We’ll talk.

Peter, so, you want to watch The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly in
Italian?  You may want to rethink your position.

Also, it should be a little cooler by the time next weekend rolls
around so remember to bring clothes for after the sun sets (nudity
will only be permitted until dusk).

Just a little note about the bulb fund.

I have received some of the donations through PayPal, but I know there
are still several of you who would like to contribute.  As such I
promise to have a jar out for donations at this event.

Thanks to Ethan who just donated through PayPal.

I have procured the ultimate donation jar and I have crafted a
wonderful money slot in its lid–this will be available for all to
enjoy next Saturday.

I’m looking forward to seeing y’all there.

Everybody:  Ok, Saturday is approaching (four days and counting).  The
weather might be a bit on the cool side at night, so bring your
blankets or fleece.  I will have the usual fire burning (great for
weenie roasting if you’re so inclined).

As always, let me know if you have any questions.

https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/movieknight/UGQ4wgGFw1A

I’m not one to discourage any film with Eli Wallach.  You know that.
The Holiday was terrific and who can forget Circle of Iron?  I
digress.

I’ve seen most of the films you’ve mentioned, but there are some
Kubrick films you own which I have not yet seen.  So you should drop
your Kubrick collection off this month so I can play catch up.

Also, I would love to show Scavenger Hunt if you’re up for it.  It
would help spread the word about this film and perhaps help to
encourage the studio to release it on DVD.  (And you thought piracy
couldn’t have positive benefits…)

I had a couple of themed ideas for future nights:

Hit Men with Hearts Movie Night:

  • Grosse Pointe Blank
  • The Big Hit

Art House Quickie Movie Night:

  • Run, Lola, Run
  • The Dinner Game
  • Curse of the Jade Scorpion

Thoughts?

Yeah, Leon is great.

I just ordered this wonderful French spoof of spy films:

http://www.amazon.com/OSS-117-Cairo-Nest-Spies/dp/B001APM44O

I have a host of foreign films (some excellent comedies) I’d like to
show if I can get folks interested in films with subtitles:

  • Johnny Stichhino
  • Amelie
  • Night on Earth
  • Divorce Italian Style

many others…

I don’t think we did Night on Earth.  We did Coffee and Cigarettes
(which has some of the same people and is also by Jarmusch).  Which
brings us to another great hit man film: Ghost Dog.

Habla con ella, yes.  I own that one.  Excellent film.  I also really
like Lucia y el sexo.

https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/movieknight/f9b5oNcJF-U

What a night.  Boondock Saints was a big hit.  The laughter echoed off
the moon.  Operation Condor did its job.  Folks brought nice snacks.
My sangria was the best it’s been thus far.  Nobody had to run to the
ER to get half a dozen stitches in their thumb.  Great night all
around.

Thanks to everyone who put monies into the donation jar.  Even some of
the +1’s dropped bills through the lip-shaped slot.  We are inching
toward the new bulb.

We are looking at mid-July for the next night (maybe 12 July?).  Get
ready for the selection process.  I’ll make the announcement around
the end of this month.

Let me know if there are any questions.

Chile Cook-Off and Season Opener

[not clear which movie(s) played]

Excited to return to my grassy knoll?  Me too.

I am not convinced as yet that the temperature is going to rise enough
for us to kick off this season in May, so we may be looking at June
for the season opener.  Feel free to start a thread about movie ideas
for this summer.  I have several ideas myself.  If it gets warm enough
by mid-May perhaps we can do a single feature (rather than the usual
double feature).

So, that’s the good news.  And the bad news?  My projector is telling
me it’s time to prepare for bulb replacement.  I will run it until it
pops, of course; but I have to get the bulb:

http://www.buy.com/prod/Optoma_Replacement_Lamp_for_H31_UHP200W/q/loc/101/10407665.html

Not having worked in six months is really getting to be a drag.
Regardless, I would like to start a collection for bulb replacement.
If twenty-five of us chip in $10, that covers the bulb.  Don’t pawn
that coocoo clock your grandfather left you in his will, but everyone
that helps out will be rewarded by karma or heyzeus or whatever–not
to mention the great fat thank you I’ll be sending your way.

There you have it.  Winter’s nearly done with us, and we can get back
to life as we’d like to think it should always be.

So here is my idea for a 2009 kick-off event.

We could do an afternoon chile cook-off and show one film weather
(warmth) permitting.  I am thinking either Saturday 16 May or Sunday
24 May (Memorial Day weekend).

Thoughts?

Hidy-ho, Movie Knight-a-roonies.

Ok, so the general response seems to be towards this weekend (and
avoiding the Memorial Day mess and conflicts &c).  The sixteenth it
is, then.

A cook-off?

What a nice way to say hello.  Pit your skills—both your cooking
skills and your boasting skills—against your fellow movie goers.

I have one friend who is seeking out some venison (he only makes
venison chile from scratch) but I have at least three confirmed chile
cookers.  I’m sure there are others who will line up their crackpot
crockpots on my banquette table.  Now we just need a few chile
tasters…

Supposing you are not a chile cooker and you were wondering what you
might be able to bring, here is a random list of useful possibilities:

  1. paper bowls (please no styrofoam)
  2. tiki torch lamp oil
  3. plastic spoons
  4. corn bread
  5. cheddar cheese (for grating on top)
  6. scallions or green onions (for garnish)
  7. chips & salsa (for fun)
  8. beer, wine, or beer

Also, I’m still gathering donations for my new bulb.  Please help if
you are able.

What about a damned movie?

Nature may or may not smile upon us Saturday 16 May.  Nature, as
regards rain in Seattle, has long been fickle.  We eat chile for
certain.  The nice thing about chile is it can warm you twice.  If the
rain doesn’t fall on us, we’ll watch a single feature to usher in the
season.

But which movie?

Tongan Ninja?  Dazed and Confused?  Tampopo?

I’m looking forward to your thoughts, and I’m especially looking
forward to seeing all of you again.

Questions?  Give me a call.

PS:  The best method for replying to the group is to visit the site:

http://groups.google.com/group/movieknight

https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/movieknight/Begxi6cN86E

Oh, people have been asking me about the time…  (Details? Pfff… )

Let’s say if you are cooking/warming something come about 5pm and if
you are eating come about 6pm.  The sun will set about 8:30 that
evening which is the soonest we could show a movie.

How does that sound?

UPDATEs:

We have about six people bringing a wide variety of chilis (from no-
tomato vege chili to chili rojo con carne), so that’s all going pretty
well.  The cheddar is taken care of and I found some lamp oil so the
list of stuff looks more like this now:

  1. paper bowls (please no styrofoam)
  2. plastic spoons
  3. corn bread
  4. scallions or green onions (for garnish)
  5. chips & salsa (for fun)
  6. beer, wine, or beer

(Thanks again to everyone who has offered to help out with the bulb.
We are about half way there.)

Buckarro meets the Film Snob Selection Criteria and I own a copy.  So
that’s all good.

Weather is moving in the right direction for a movie (Saturday high
currently predicted at 65 and overnight low at 52 and no rain).  I’ll
keep watching it.

I have at least two people committing to bring cornbread.  Let me know
if you are bringing anything.  We could still use:

  1. paper bowls (please no styrofoam)
  2. plastic spoons
  3. scallions or green onions (for garnish)
  4. chips & salsa (for fun)
  5. beer, wine, or beer

Ok, I have picked up some paper bowls at Costco.  Darien is bringing
some spoons.  Our list is narrowed to the bonus nibbles:

  1. chips & salsa (for fun)
  2. beer, wine, or beer (never hurts, actually)

The weather is looking really good for Saturday.  High of 71 during
the day (I’ll be here all day so if anyone wants to come hang out
while I mentor my chili… ) and an overnight low of 51 predicted.
This is looking very promising for a movie.

Bring your warm jackets and blankets and stocking caps because it will
be cold without them after the sun goes down.  Camping chairs or lawn
chairs are very useful for you new-comers.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

What a wonderful season starter.  Great turn-out, excellent food,
perfect weather, and not a single hitch (we even managed to save an
injured crow who wandered into my kitchen).

Thanks for all of your help and support.

Speaking of support, I neglected (as per my usual poor memory) to put
out a donations jar for the bulb.  Anyone still wanting to help with
the bulb, please feel free to drop by and lay me some green.
Alternatively, you can send me some dough through my PayPal account:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=2257123

I will be purchasing the new bulb (about $250) before the next movie
night so as to ensure that when it pops, we’ll be ready.

Also, I have a few containers here if anyone wants to retrieve
theirs.  They are washed and in my cupboard.

I suppose the next one will land around 14 June, so expect to see a
new message from me in a couple of weeks making that announcement.
Until then, feel free to open discussions about ideas for this
season.  (I know there is some interest in showing the cult classic
“Judge Dredd” and for the ever-popular “Blazing Saddles”.)

…there really wasn’t that much to clean.

JamesIsIn
