Binary Rhythm Brigade
This unmanipulated photograph (2749) was shot 24 August 2013.
This is a luxagraphic work involving multiple motions and interpositions. It was shot from Dilettante Chocolates on Broadway, shot from an outside table at night.
Scott is a long-standing friend of mine (his mom gave me painting lessons when he and I were grade school chums). He has a terrific history in the visual arts and in me he has a dedicated fan.
You can check out some of his stuff over at Saatchi On-Line under his pseudonym, Mortimer Dempsey.
To either save you a click or motivate you to see more, have a look at this piece:
I like to think my Luxagraphic Movement is having an influence on his work.
Enjoy.
I Return Your Wayward Kittens
This unmanipulated photograph (3765) was shot 4 June 2013.
We are fostering kittens, you know, for fun. This trio represents the latest victims. It’s hard to judge from this angle but all three kittens are in one hand (the other is holding the camera).
Thanks for taking a peek.
This unmanipulated photograph (1929) was shot in one of the movie theaters downtown on 1 December 2012.
The subject lights are a neon tube and some LED lettering on a sign.
For more information about my luxagraphic work, please see my Manifesto.
My friend T Malachi Dunworth posts his photography here. He’s a musician and photographer friend of mine currently living in San Francisco. There are some pretty cool pictures there so check it out.
This unmanipulated photograph (1307) was shot in our new SAM sculpture park on 11 June 2007.
What is fascinating here is the optical illusion created by my chosen perspective.
The photograph has been rotated 180 degrees. In so doing the edge of metal and its shadow (originally cast downward) are reversed and the shadow transforms into a deep valley visually.
(The thumbnail version also fails to deliver the illusion, presumably because you cannot see into the details which evoke the valley.)
Thanks for taking an interest in my photographs.
